You know a dream is like a river ever changin' as it flows.
            G D/F# Em7 A
And the dreamer's just a vessel that must follow where it goes.

               D G/D D *D G/D D *D
And I will sail my vessel 'til the river runs dry.

Like a bird upon the wind, these water's are my sky.
        Bm A/C# D G/D D *D G
I'll never reach my destination if I never try.
               D G/D D *D A D #D#
So, I will sail my vessel 'till the river runs dry.

2: Too many times we stand aside and let the water slip away
'Til what we put off 'til tomorrow has now become today.
So, don't you sit upon the shorline and say you're satisfied.
Choose to chance the rapids and dare to dance the tide.
       (To Chorus:)

    By *D I mean to hammer on from Dsus2 (xx0230) to D (xx0232) on the 1st string.
    #D# is D-D-Dsus4-D-Dsus2-D

Subject: My tab of "The River" by Garth Brooks

Is this OK for a tab style?

I'll offer a piece of tab that I did for someone recently. It's not my
usual favorite style of music, but what the hey. I'm not very good with
chord names, so maybe somebody can correct or help me.

    Intro: G G(add a Bflat like 320013) G(add a C like 320033)
           G (add a B flat as before)...D

During the verse, the guitar usually throws in a Dsus (xx0233) on the
    first chord.

What I call chords and what they really mean.
    D/F# is (200232)

and I know I'll take some falls

              E
so I will sail my vessel

               E B A
Yes I will sail my vessel Till the River runs dry.

You can fake a good ending staying on the A and suspending it
(x02230) and ending on the E.
